The Standard Hotel
Downtown Los Angeles, California
Designed by Andre Balazs and built in 1955, the 12-story Standard Oil Headquarters Building was transformed by the team of KornRandolph, Koenig Eisenberg Architects, the Glass Garden to create an urban oasis that connects the new hotel’s porte cochere to the lobby entrance.
This newly created outdoor living space, uses Dragon Trees to form a spiky green canopy defining the dining area that includes a sunken cocktail lounge framed by a water trough planted with Weeping Bamboo. Inspired by the Peppermill in Las Vegas, Los Angeles’ trendy night spot features a fire and ice feature that heats up the night life.
